
She is a self-producing dance artist, choreographer and movement director based in Cardiff. Her
choreographic practice spans theatre, installation, site based performance and image based projects.
Described as ‘bold, beautiful and intimate’ her work has been commissioned and presented nationally
and internationally since she graduated from Laban in 2001. She has been a Creative Wales Award
recipient (2009), shortlisted as a ‘Place Prize’ semi-finalist (2010) and has been associate artist with
NDCWales, Chapter and Coreo Cymru.
Deborah’s movement directing for theatre includes Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, RWCMD, The Other
Room, FranWen and Taking Flight. Performance credits include Joanna Young, Caroline Sabin, Run
Ragged/Jem Treays, Sean Tuan John, Longborough Festival Opera, Diversions, Polish Dance
Theatre and the Institute of Crazy Dancing. She has an extensive teaching practice and supports
other artists as a creative assistant in dramaturgy, mentoring and producing roles.
Deborah uses her experience and knowledge to offer both strategic and individual support to
freelancers artists and the dance sector in Wales She was a founder member of Groundwork (an
artist led organisation offering training and development opportunities for dance artists in Wales), was
part of UK/Wales freelance taskforce for theatre and performance, is a Freelance Champion for the
Creative Industries Federation and an Arts associate for Arts Council Wales.
